Essentials to stay in Agadir

Getting there

Thanks to its year-round sunshine, you can visit Agadir in all seasons. For heat, summer is best. For peace and quiet, May-June and September-October are ideal.

Length of stay

To make the most of Agadir, its beach and its activities, we recommend a stay of at least four days. A week's stay is ideal.

Taking advantage of landscapes and authenticity

The beauty of its natural setting, between sea and mountains, makes Agadir an ideal choice for those in search of rejuvenation and authenticity.

Accommodation in the heart of Agadir

Choosing accommodation in the tourist sector is the best option for making the most of Agadir. It allows you to take advantage of both the beach and the city's lively atmosphere.

Staying around the center of Agadir

Accommodation in Founty or the Swiss town is a very good alternative. Close to the sea, these districts are quieter and offer accommodation to suit all budgets.

Staying near Agadir

The more out-of-the-way Medina and Taghazout areas also have their advantages. Golf enthusiasts will prefer to stay in the former, and surfers in the latter.

Areas where to stay in Agadir

Let’s get to the heart of the matter with a review of the main areas where we recommend staying in Agadir.

Accommodation in Agadir's central tourist area

Agadir main beach

The tourism sector is the most popular place for foreigners to stay in Agadir. Staying here offers many advantages.

The area lies between the marina to the north and the Oued Lahouar river to the south. In this district lies the first half of Agadir's beach, a 10-kilometer stretch of sandy coastline. This is Agadir's liveliest district. Numerous bars, restaurants and nightlife venues can be found in this area. You'll find a very wide choice of accommodation, generally at quite attractive prices, within this area.

To the south is the Palais Royal, the king's residence during his stays in Agadir. Casinos can also be found in this area.

From the marina and seafront, you can take boat trips and jet ski. It's also great fun to stroll along the beach's cornice promenade. The beach, with its calm waters, is also a real attraction for many tourists in summer.

It's the ideal place to stay in Agadir, whether you're looking for a party or a family vacation.

€€

Just 100 meters from the beach, this hotel offers rooms with balcony. The establishment includes three swimming pools, a spa, bar, restaurant and private parking.

Stay in Founty, the district of the most luxurious establishments

Founty, Agadir

Founty is a district just below the tourist area. It's also an excellent choice for accommodation in Agadir. This district comprises the second half of Agadir's beach.

Although it includes many restaurants and bars, this area is quieter than the tourist area. Away from the seafront, inland from Founty, you'll find a large number of shops. However, apart from the beach, there are no other sites of interest to see here.

Staying in Founty is therefore ideal for those wishing to enjoy the beach in a less dynamic atmosphere. It is also an interesting option for families. You should be aware, however, that accommodation in this area is generally more expensive.

Accommodation in Cité Suisse, Agadir's oldest district

Lebanon mosque in swiss district in Agadir

Located to the northwest of Agadir, the Swiss City district is the oldest part of the city. This relatively small area can be a great alternative for accommodation in Agadir. Only 10 to 15 minutes' walk from the beach, this district is the most authentic, with older dwellings.

However, due to its small size and residential aspect, the number of restaurants and bars is quite low. The same is true of the accommodation on offer, which is far fewer than in the central areas of Agadir.

As a result, life is much quieter here than in the neighborhoods bordering the city's seafront. For all these reasons, the few accommodations available in this district are essentially basic, low-budget structures.

Our recommended accommodations

Suite Hotel Tilila

Well-equipped, low-costhotel. Includes swimming pool, terrace and restaurant. Family rooms can be booked for up to 4 people.

Petite Suède

Very good value for small budgets. Spacious, basic rooms with balconies. Less than 10 minutes' walk from the sea.

Stay close to the medina and golf courses, green and quiet areas

Medina in Agadir

These two areas are located to the south of Agadir. They are very peaceful and pleasant green spaces.

Agadir's medina is quite far from the city's central districts. You can get there on foot, about 40 minutes from Founty, or by cab. The architecture is interesting, but it's worth noting that it was rebuilt in the 1990s. The old medina was destroyed in the 1960 earthquake.

For golf enthusiasts, there are no fewer than 4 different courses in this area. Accommodation in this area is mainly luxury. If you want to enjoy this sport during your stay in Agadir, it makes a lot of sense to stay here.

Our recommended accommodations

Tikida Golf Palace - Relaix & Châteaux

Accommodation in Taghazout, a trendy destination near Agadir

Taghazout

Located 20 kilometers north of Agadir, Taghazout is an interesting alternative to Agadir. This fishing village is renowned as a surfer's paradise. Indeed, the waves here are quite powerful.

Recently, Taghazout has developed into a popular new seaside resort. The creation of a new golf course in 2016 is further proof of its rapid development.

With this in mind, Taghazout offers an ever-increasing range of accommodation. Rates are equally varied, ranging from luxury establishments to low-cost bed & breakfasts.

Our recommended accommodations

Surf & Travel Camp

€€

Bed and breakfast with shared bathroom, close to the sea and at an attractive price. Possibility of reserving an apartment with private bathroom.

Fairmont Taghazout Bay

€€€

Luxurious hotel complex facing the sea. It includes a private beach, swimming pool, spa, restaurant, bar and private parking. A great place to stay near Agadir.

Summary

Preparing your stay in Agadir well in advance is essential for several reasons. First of all, the earlier you book, the greater your choice of accommodation at attractive prices. Choosing where to stay in Agadir is essential, depending on your plans for your stay in this seaside resort.

So, for example, staying by the sea when your main interest is golf is of little interest. On the other hand, if you want to surf the waves, it’s not a good idea to stay in the heart of Agadir, but rather in Taghazout. Planning your stay in Agadir is therefore largely determined by your aspirations.
