Where to stay in and around Cassis

Let’s get to the heart of the matter with a review of the main areas where we recommend staying in Cassis.

Stay in Cassis in the most attractive area: the port

Port of Cassis

The port is the heart of Cassis. It lies between the Bec de l'Aigle and the towering cliffs of Cap Canaille. Considered one of the prettiest harbors in the Mediterranean, this is where the life of the town is organized.

You'll love strolling along to discover the charming little fishing boats known as "les Pointus". In fact, these boats are bound to make you want to go out to sea. The good news is that there are a number of excursions available to discover the calanques and the underwater world, including diving.

The area also boasts many colorful mansions along its waterfront, which were once fishermen's cottages. If you're an avid hiker, there are circuits starting from this point to discover the calanques.

It's also a very lively and convivial area where to stay, with numerous café terraces where you can sample the region's specialties while admiring the panorama. A quiet, pedestrian zone, every morning a dozen or so fishermen sell their catch of the day on the quayside. We recommend a visit to enjoy the local produce.

For accommodation, this is the area with the highest concentration of Cassis accommodation where to stay. The majority of accommodations are private rentals of apartments and houses. In fact, you'll find very few hotels in this area.

As far as prices are concerned, staying in this area is rather affordable, with mid-range hotels as well as more expensive accommodations due to the location.

As far as transport is concerned, there is very little parking around the port. So be sure to park a little further away if you hope to find a space. There are also bus connections to other parts of Cassis.

For nature-lovers, it's also a good place to stay for hiking trails along the coast. They offer panoramic views of the sea. In fact, we recommend the Pointe du Corton hiking trail.

For parking, we advise you to leave your car at the parking lot near the stade du Pignier, as this area has neither parking lots nor bus stops.

As far as accommodation is concerned, this area has no hotels and very few places to stay. In fact, the only accommodation you'll find here is private apartments. Prices are more affordable than in other parts of Cassis. Because of its attractive price, accommodation is more saturated, so we recommend that you plan ahead if you want to stay here.
