Getting around

Despite its size, it's very easy to get around the districts. All areas are served by a wide range of public transport services, including buses, Light Rail and even ferries! Even without a car, you'll have no trouble getting around.

Length of stay

On average, you should stay in the Emerald City for at least 5 to 7 days. That way you can take your time and see everything Sydney has to offer!

Accommodation budget

Sydney is one of the most expensive cities in the world. The cost of living is quite high, which also makes accommodation quite expensive. Fortunately, some areas and types of accommodation are much cheaper, so you can manage your budget better.

Central business district

The CBD is THE area to visit: this bustling district is packed with things to do, and you'll never be bored for a second. However, beware of the sometimes very high cost of accommodation, as in Darling Harbour.

Stay near the harbour bridge

The Rocks is the oldest district and it was here that the first settlers arrived several centuries ago. In stark contrast to the Central Business District, this pretty tourist area close to the quays will take you on a journey and seduce you with its charm and authenticity.

South Sydney

Although the centre is very expensive, there are more affordable alternatives, such as the Surry Hills or Haymarket areas, where you'll find very good accommodation.

The area is easily accessible by car or public transport. You can take the train to Bondi Junction station, then catch a bus down to the beach. There are also direct bus routes . However, we don't recommend booking accommodation close to Bondi if you want to visit the city, as the area is very out of the way and the daily commute to other areas can be tiring.

Bondi is an ideal destination for those who want to enjoy the sun and the waves. You'll find plenty of hotels, flats and youth hostels to choose from, all fairly affordable.
